Screening Dates for 2012

Before the holidays hit full stride, I wanted to take this opportunity to thank the many people who made Troubadour Blues a reality in 2011: people who sat through the many early screenings and gave their feedback; friends who talked me through the year-and-a-half-long editing process; Kickstarter supporters; the couple of fans who ordered 10-packs of DVDs and gave them as Christmas gifts; writers who critiqued the film and publications that ran ads and reviews.

Deleted Scenes and Outtakes

Somebody commented the other day, after visiting the site, that older video clips were hard to find. I decided it would probably be a good idea to put some of this material up near the top of the blog so that people could find it. All clips are outtakes from the Troubadour Blues project, for which I shot nearly 200 hours of MiniDV tape.

Nice Post on No Depression

Easy Ed is the nom-de-blog of a frequent contributor to No Depression, the place to go online for all things Americana. He likes a lot of the same music that I do, so I sent him a DVD, and he responded with this lovely post.

Please do as Easy Ed says and buy a copy for yourself and another for a music-loving friend on your holiday gift list. Buy copies for EVERYBODY on your Christmas gift list. Send one to the music writer at your local newspaper or favorite website. This film is my livelihood for the next few months, and I really need your support.

Thanks for listening!

Buffalo News Article About Troubadour Blues

Music » Sound Check

Road warrior

By JEFF MIERS

Buffalo News Pop Music Critic

Will the troubadour soon become nothing but a memory? Is there a place in our fast-moving, hyper-informational mess of a culture for the traveling singer-songwriter? Does that culture put any value on the independent, modern-day itinerant minstrel? If Woody Guthrie was alive and singing today, would anyone even notice?

These questions sit at the heart of “Troubadour Blues,” a new documentary that centers around the life and work of Hamburg native and revered DIY singer-songwriter Peter Case.
